Yes, yes we know the traditional Margarita is all about tequila, but that doesn't mean there isn't scope to play around and use the idea of the classic (and incredible) cocktail and change it up with different spirits - in this case, our extremely delicious Cardi Bay Flavoured Welsh Vodka.
The coconut and vanilla flavours from the vodka bring a tropical kick to this serve, combining well with lime juice and the jalapenos that we've included here for heat - and think Dirty Martini. Edging your glass with salt is the most common approach for a margarita, and here, a chilli and lime salt is just delicious. We love Tajin, but you could make your own with lime zest and chilli flakes.
Cardi Bay Spicy Marg
(serves 1)
50ml Cardi Bay Vodka
25ml Lime Juice
25ml Sugar Syrup
Couple of sliced jalapenos
Chilli and Lime salt (we used Tajin) for the glass
Wet the rim of a rocks glass and dip the glass into the lime and chilli salt, then set aside.
Add the rest of the ingredients to a shaker.
Drop in a couple of ice cubes and shake to chill.
Fill the rocks glass with ice and strain the contents of the shaker in.
Garnish with a chilli and a slice of lime.
